Who Controls Your Faith? AI, Politics & Government Power | A Pastor’s Café Ep. 114
Can an AI-generated video use someone’s real words and still mislead you? And how do you test advice that claims to speak for God?
In Episode 114 of A Pastor’s Café, David Hanan, Ph.D., and Dr. Steve Kern explore Christian faith and political loyalty, synthetic campaign videos, AI spiritual guidance, and government support for military chaplains.
We ask:
• When someone says another person’s beliefs aren’t Christian, what should we examine?
• Does a real quotation make an invented video performance fair?
• When does a useful Bible tool become a spiritual authority?
• What protects a chaplain’s ministry from political pressure?
The conversation draws on current reporting and biblical questions about truth, authority, and conscience. Fictional scenarios help us explore the stakes; they are illustrations, not reports of actual events.
Scripture for further study: 1 John 4:1–3; Exodus 20:16; Acts 17:11; Hebrews 10:24–25; 1 Timothy 2:1–2; Revelation 13:11–17.
Which voice would you find hardest to question: a political ally, a trusted religious leader, or an app that seems to understand you? Tell us why in the comments.
Subscribe to A Pastor’s Café for thoughtful, biblical conversations about faith and the questions shaping everyday life.
